Body

It is with the of heaviest of hearts his father and I announce the passing of Canyon Wyatt Quimby. Canyon left this world at his house in Stillwater, Oklahoma Tuesday March 9, 2021 doing what he loved—being a cowboy with his dada. Canyon came into our lives full of vigor, spunk, and tenacity on July 17, 2017. Because of his raw love for life Canyon lived more in his 3 years than most people live in an entire lifetime. Cowboy Canyon knew how to get each second from every day and use it to not just exist—but to live. Our little cowboy loved all things roping whether it was calf roping, steer roping, or team roping. Canyon also loved rodeo, tractors, opening the calf chute for his dada, gathering calves, heavy equipment, farming, ranching, the 99 Arena, his pony Itsy Bitsy, his best friend Pete (his dog), and his barn kitty Minnie Pearl. Above all else he loved his sister, Saige, his mama Amber, and his dada Adam.

Canyon was the light of our lives and the three years God blessed us with him were the best years of our lives. Canyon never met a stranger, loved everyone, loved hugs, and had a smile that could warm a room on the coldest day in Oklahoma. With that being said, we want to encourage everyone to be a “Cowboy Canyon”—live your life to the fullest every day, love everyone you meet and tell them how much you love them and give as many hugs as you can. We are at peace knowing he is in the arms of Jesus and those who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his family of the home in Stillwater, dada Adam Quimby, his mama Amber Quimby, his sister Saige Quimby; his nana Vicky Arnold of Spiro, OK; his “Poppy” Gannon and his “Grams” Deana Quimby of Mannford, OK; his grandma Angela Williams of Baxter Springs, KS; Uncle Bret, Aunt Mariah, and cousin Bowdie Quimby of Bristow, OK; Uncle Chase Quimby of Mannford, OK; Uncle Brady Cantwell of Joplin, MO; Uncle Adlie Williams of Baxter Springs, KS; Great Grandpa “Papa Bert” and Grandma Clara Quimby of Olive, Ok as well as 2 wonderful great aunts, many second cousins, third cousins, and the biggest extended family and friends any cowboy could be blessed with.

The family will receive visitors Friday March 12, 2021 from 5-8pm, at Michael’s Funeral Home in Drumright, Ok. The service will be at the Olive High School Gymnasium in Olive, OK, Saturday March 13, 2021 at 1pm and it will be befi tting a cowboy and we ask everyone who wants to, to come dressed in your boots, jeans, hats, and buckles. Interment will follow at Euchee Valley Memorial Park in Cushing.

In lieu of fl owers, we ask for donations to be made in Canyon’s name to Western Wishes. Since 1994, Western Wishes has made countless dreams come true for kids who love the “western” way of life. Canyon loved his lifestyle, and he would be so excited to help share that with other children.
